Pickering Real Estate – Famous Beginnings
On the eastern border of the Greater Toronto Area, in the region of Durham, is the city of Pickering Ontario. It’s a beautiful, unassuming city with a mixture of farmland and delightful suburban communities. With a small town feel and the luxuries of big city shopping, Pickering real estate is extremely popular and draws in a wide variety of people.
What may surprise you is that Pickering real estate once held some of Canada’s prized celebrity figures. Athletes, journalists, TV personalities and musical celebrities have emerged from these friendly streets and made their way in to every day conversation as the rich and famous.

Do you remember sitting in front of the television when you were little watching Mr. Dressup? Him and his friends Casey and Finnigan, had a way of making us laugh and use our imaginations. Although born in Maine, Mr. Dressup (Ernie Coombs) took up residence in Pickering Ontario when he began working for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation. He liked it so much that he decided to stay until his death in 2001 at age 73.
Neil Young, a singer-songwriter, spent a portion of his early years in the Pickering real estate of Brock Road. It was here that he began his focus on rock and even declared such in Jimmy McDonough’s biography Shakey.
Any true Canadian knows the band, Barenaked Ladies. Tyler Stewart, drummer and singer of the band, was born in Pickering and to this day owns his own personal piece of Pickering real estate.

Who knew Pickering had such famous beginnings?
