Summer is here is full force and everyone is always looking for new and exciting events and things to do as the weather is at its peak.

The Durham Region is brimming with endless opportunities for summer fun from art and entertainment to outdoor events for nature lovers, as well as events for those museum and gallery lovers.

We’ve come up with a list of some of the most looked forward to summer festivals and events in the Durham Region, which will be a great chance to visit with friends and family.

Ontario Family Fishing Weekend

July 2 - July 3

Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide event that has happened on three other weekends so far in the year.

This event allows for residents to fish the beautiful waters of Ontario without the regular mandatory fishing regulations and license that are put in place to be able to legally fish in Ontario.

This is a great time to introduce friends or family, especially the kids, to the world of fishing.

A truly relaxing and perfect summer activity, fishing is the ultimate peaceful getaway amongst the more lively or adrenaline pumping summer activities.

Free Concerts

Throughout the summer, keep your eye out for cities in the Durham Region offering free concerts to enjoy a show.

With artists from all over, you can find free concerts from Whitby to Oshawa, Pickering to Ajax, and much more.

This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of free live shows which are incredible in the summer, especially as most shows are held at outdoor venues, so you can enjoy the beautiful weather and some music.

Durham Food Fest And Eid Expo

A full day event, the Durham Food Fest and Eid Expo is a great day to spend out with family and friends to have some delicious food, let the kids take part in some games, and even shop around.

The Troubadour Concert Series

June 18 - July 16

As one weekend features a “Multicultural Songwriters’ Night” with artists from around the world, another night it is “Rock Night” with some classic rock artists.
